Fraser McIntyre & Brian Hutton
Binbrook ON - Southbrook Golf & Country Club in Binbrook ON was host to Event #4 on the Golden Horseshoe Tour schedule. With the recent course re-routing of the back nine and some nice work to the fifth fairway a new competitive course record was likely to be set by day's end. However, when the dust settled after play, two players were left standing alone at the top and sharing the new course record. Brian Hutton (Southbrook) and Fraser McIntyre (Trafalgar) fired 6 under par 66 to share the victory. Both Hutton and McIntyre made 7 birdies and 1 bogey each. However, the drama all came down to the final hole. McIntyre sat on the 18th tee at 7 under par and Hutton was two shots behind at 5 under. McIntyre made his only bogey of the day and opened the door as Hutton made birdie and the two shot swing tied the duo for the lead. Birdies and eagles were flying all day as many players were experiencing up and downs in their round. Reggie Millage (Clublink Academy), David Moro (Credit Valley), and Jim Kenesky (Tees Indoor Golf) all posted 3 under par 69's to finish in a tie for third. In all, the field of 38 professionals made 83 birdies and 3 eagles. However only 7 players managed to keep it under par for their round...
Yong Woo Kim (Golf Town Burlington) overtakes the lead in the Wick Agencies 2012 Order of Merit. Kim sits with 63 points, while Ed Maunder (Deerfield) is in a close second with 62.33 points. Fraser McIntyre rounds out the top 3 with 61.5 points and has a commanding lead in the Wick Agencies Senior Order of Merit. The top 16 on the Order of Merit at the conclusion of Pro/Junior Golf Classic on August 16th will qualify for the Playoffs and The Race to the John H. Davis Cup. Only 6 points separate 15th spot from 19th spot on the current Order of Merit.
The Golden Horseshoe Area Golf Tour would like to thank Brian Hutton and his staff at Southbrook for all their hard work and hospitality throughout the day. The next event on the GHT schedule is set for Monday July 23rd at King's Forest Golf Club in Hamilton ON.
