Milton ON - Last season on the Golden Horseshoe Area Golf Tour, Ed Maunder (Deerfield) had a solid campaign. He finished third in the CaddyPro Order of Merit and third on the Money List. However, one major thing missing from Maunder's season was a win. At Greystone Golf Club on Tuesday April 30, Ed Maunder fired a 5 under par 67 to capture GHT Event #1 by two strokes and end a year long winning drought on the GHT.
Maunder's round featured 7 birdies and only 2 bogies on the par 72 Greystone layout. Finishing second behind Maunder at 3 under par 69 was Conor O'Shea (Piper's Heath) who birdied his final three holes in the morning to take the early lead. In third alone firing a 2 under par 70 was Reggie Millage (Golf Lab). 2012 Club Professional Champion of Canada Brian Hutton (Trafalgar) finished outright fourth at 1 under par 71....

The top 5 finishers in GHT Event #1 was dominated by highly ranked players on the PGA of Canada National Player Rankings. Ed Maunder (T45), Conor O'Shea (T45), Reg Millage (11), Brian Hutton (6), Bradlee Ryall (104), and Jim Kenesky (131).
Greystone Golf Club opened for the season on Thursday April 25 and after some significant rainfall on Sunday to Monday, the course was wet and playing tough.
"Greystone is a great venue for the GHT to get their season started." says GHT President Jim Kenesky. "To have Eddie win and our top players perform the way they did, it means we're heading towards an exciting season."
Maunder had a runaway win in the PGA of Ontario Tour Championship Assistants' Division at the end of last season and his hot play looks to have stayed with him over the long winter.
The GHT would like to thank Head Golf Professional Rob Hickson and his staff at Greystone for all their help and assistance over the day. The next event on the GHT schedule is set to go on Tuesday May 14 at Trafalgar G&CC in Milton ON.
