"I couldn't find the club face on the range in my warm up until my last two drives, which I hit well." said Maunder of his range session prior to playing. "Then I got on the first tee and striped it. The rest of the round I felt good."
With the win Maunder opens the GHT season with back to back victories. Finishing in runner up position for the second straight event was Reg Millage (The Golf Lab) who fired an even par 71. In solo third with a one over par 72 was Jim Zwolak (Glen Abbey Academy). Rounding out the top 5 was 2011 John H. Davis Cup Champion Alf Callowhill (Glen Abbey Academy) and Brett Walker (Hidden Lake GC) who tied fourth with 2 over par 73's....
In the CaddyPro Order of Merit and Race to the John H. Davis Cup, Ed Maunder leads with 50 points. Reg Millage keeps close after consecutive runner up finishes and sits with 42 points. Conor O'Shea (Piper's Heath) holds down third with 35 points. After 6 events the top 16 finishers on the CaddyPro Order of Merit will qualify for the playoffs. The leader after 6 events will receive a bye into the finals, while the next 15 will play a stroke play event and the top 7 will move into the finals on October 7th at Glencairn. The final 8 players will play a shootout style stroke play event and the low 18 hole score will win the John H. Davis Cup.
The GHT would like to thank Fraser McIntyre and his staff at Trafalgar for all their help and hospitality over the day. The course was in great shape and true test for all the players that participated.
The next event on the GHT schedule is set to go on Monday June 3rd at Granite Ridge Golf Club in Milton ON. Pairings and Live Scoring will be available on the GHT website for players and viewers of the tour to watch.
