Burlington ON - Brian Hutton (Southbrook GC) closed the deal Monday on Hidden Lake's New Course by firing a 5 under par 31 on the back 9 to shoot 69 and win by one shot. Hutton was not looking good after nine holes, where he was 3 over par for his round sitting on the tenth tee. He went on to birdie holes #10, #12, #14, #17 and #18. Hutton recently went back to the claw putting grip and is having a great stretch of golf over the last couple weeks. Most recent he fired 30 on his final nine at the Ontario PGA Senior Championship to get himself in a playoff where he eventually lost to Ken Tarling. Ron Kenesky (Hidden Lake GC) and Jim Kenesky (Hidden Lake GC) posted morning rounds of 1 under par 70 to finish in a tie for second place. Jim Zwolak (Braeben Academy) finished in fourth alone with a score of 72. While Eddie Maunder (Deerfield GC) and David Banks (Within Range) finished tied for fifth with rounds of 73.
Monday's event was this years biggest field and the race to the John H. Davis Cup is heating up with only one event left to play. The standings are so close that the winner won't be crowned until the end of the final event. The GHT would like to thank John Cormier, Terry Parker, George Tidd, and the Hidden Lake staff for a great day at their club. The final event on the schedule is set to go on Monday, October 3rd at Trafalgar Golf & Country Club.
