Burlington ON - The weather forecast was very much a factor on Monday at Hidden Lake Golf Club as most guys were expecting rain and poor conditions throughout the day.  However, the rain never materialized and scoring was equal in both morning and afternoon draws.  Justin Kim (Wedgewood Golf Centre) was in control on Monday and knew starting his round that something in the 60's was going to be a good score.  With Jim Zwolak (Glen Abbey Academy) making eagle three on the Par 5 18th hole on Hidden Lake Golf Club's New Course, he was the only player in the morning to post a score under par.  Zwolak was the clubhouse leader with a one under par 70.  Justin Kim, who was playing in his first Golden Horseshoe Tour event, made 6 birdies and 4 bogies to post his 69 which was good enough for an outright win over Zwolak.  Jim Kenesky (Tees Indoor Golf) and Ed Maunder (Deerfield) posted rounds of even par 71 to round out the top 3.  Finishing alone in fifth place was Rick Sovereign (Hidden Lake) who carded a 73....

In the Wick 2012 Order of Merit Ed Maunder and Jim Zwolak share the lead with 38 points.  The top 16 finishers on the Wick 2012 Order of Merit will qualify for the playoffs and have a chance to become the John H. Davis Cup Champion.  The Trimark 2012 Money List is currently being lead by Jim Zwolak who sits with $675.00 through two events.

Hidden Lake was in great shape and the Golden Horseshoe Tour would like to thank John Cormier, Terry Parker, George Tidd and the staff at Hidden Lake for their hospitality and work during the day.  The Tour would also like to thank Peter Grant, Sales Representative for Wick Agencies and Jessica Alexopolous, The Watermark Taphouse and Grille, for their support throughout the day and evening.

Milton ON - Fraser McIntyre (Trafalgar G&CC) is one tough player.  On a day where many players were feeling down and out due to adverse weather conditions, McIntyre dealt with the rainy cold conditions to post a tidy one under par 71.  His card featured 3 birdies and 2 bogies.  The Greystone Golf Club (par 72) in Milton was the first stop on the 2012 Golden Horseshoe Tour schedule.  Greystone is known for it's tricky greens and beautifully maintained grounds, but when the weather is extreme, Greystone can become a golfer's nightmare... 

  The first event of the season saw 34 players battle the conditions, with ice pellets in the morning and rain in the afternoon, only two players shot par or better.  After McIntyre's 71, Conor O'Shea (Piper's Heath) fired an even par 72, which featured an eagle 3 on the par 5 18th hole.  Ed Maunder (Deerfield) and Ciaran McAleavey (Glen Abbey) were a close third at one over par 73.  The Golden Horseshoe Tour would like to thank Rob Hickson and all the staff at Greystone for their work and organization throughout the day.  The next stop on the Tour is at Hidden Lake Golf Club (New Course) on Monday May 7th.

Burlington ON - The Golden Horseshoe Area Golf Tour is pleased to announce Trimark Sportswear as the official apparel partner for the 2012 season.  The Golden Horseshoe Tour Money List will now be named The  Trimark 2012 Money List and Trimark will be making a clothing package available to the top finisher on the money list at the conclusion of the season.  Trimark will also be offering a shirt to all GHT members that pay in full (Option #1) for the 2012 season.  The current season will commence on Monday April 30th and sees a total of 8 Regular Events and an optional Two Man Team Event in Mid Ocotober.  We are pleased to have Ron Murray, the local representative for Trimark, as a great supporter of the GHT and we look forward to building a lasting relationship with the apparel company.
